CENTIN-incubated startup “The Support Group,” founded by Ms. Yasmeen Butt, achieved the Runner-up position and secured a Wild Card entry at Plan9, Pakistan’s largest technology incubator. This achievement was made at the ERUPT Lahore Finale, the country’s biggest entrepreneurial competition, organized by Plan9 in collaboration with Careem. The event was held at Arfa Software Technology Park on December 15, 2016. Nearly 200 startup ideas were pitched by students from 12 leading universities, including LUMS, FAST, COMSATS, ITU, BNU, UCP, Bahria University, and others. The competition comprised four rigorous rounds, in which UMT teams performed exceptionally well throughout.
A proud moment came when Mr. Talal Burny, Manager Operations & Special Projects at Careem, praised UMT participants. He highlighted that UMT presented the highest-quality ideas among all competing universities. He further noted the difficulty in selecting only one UMT team for the Champions Round due to their excellence. This recognition reflects the strength of innovation and entrepreneurship nurtured at UMT. As a result, CENTIN has now become a Network Partner with Plan9, establishing strong collaborative ties.
